Paul Berry is the new President of the Students’ Union at Edge Hill College of Higher Education.

The 22-year-old graduated from Edge Hill in 2001 with a BA (Hons) degree in Criminology and Applied Social Sciences. He is now studying part-time for an MSc in Management Development at the Ormskirk institution, combining his studies with his role as Union President.

Paul, who is originally from Kearsley, Bolton, said: “The Union presidency is a great opportunity for me to be able to continue my studies while gaining management experience.

“Edge Hill has been a great place to study. The social life is great, you meet a lot of nice people and the campus environment means living away from home is so easy. I am glad to be able to support other students through my new role.”

In his year in office Paul hopes to make a number of changes to the way the union is run, to ensure students get the best possible service at all times. He also hopes to encourage more students to get involved in the union, which oversees a wide range of sporting and non-athletic societies as well as providing support to students.

He said: “There are societies to suit all our students, whatever their interests, and I am hoping that I can help students get the most out of their time at Edge Hill.”
