Mr Ross Elledge, Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon / Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust / University of Birmingham
Ross is a Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon based in Birmingham with subspecialty interests in skin cancer, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery and medical/dental education. As well as his clinical role, he is the Human Disease module lead for the BDS undergraduate degree at Birmingham. He has a strong interest in medical education and the way doctors learn, having completed an MMEd with distinction at the Centre for Medical Education at the University of Dundee. His dissertation focused on the place of virtual learning environments (VLEs) for empowering frontline staff in dealing with facial injuries and he is currently involved in a research project to develop decision-making algorithms for plain radiograph requests in facial trauma. He has also co-authored a forthcoming revision textbook for the FRCS(OMFS) exit examinations.
His other areas of interest include the place of virtue ethics in postgraduate surgical training and he has recently co-authored an editorial emphasizing the importance of character reformation in surgical education for the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
