Short film is big challenge but no problem for Media students
Producing a short film in five days, in one location with only two actors would be a big ask for the most experienced film crew. But, a team of Media students proved they were up to the challenge when they developed their own film, from initial concept and scriptwriting to directing and post-production, as part of the Media Department’s Employability Week 2016.
The Short Film Challenge gave students the opportunity to apply and further develop skills that they have learnt on their degree courses in a professional environment that included strict deadlines and working practices. Working on industry standard equipment with professional actors, the students shot the film on location in Ormskirk before taking the footage and audio back to Creative Edge where it was transformed into the finished product, complete with original score by Edge Hill’s resident graduate composers.
“Those youngsters are a credit to you. I’ve worked with professional crews who weren’t as organised, focused and creative. It was a pleasure!”
