Film and Television Production students gain ‘on set’ work experience with independent production company Foot in the Door.
Edge Hill’s Media Department have teamed up with Foot in the Door (FITD), a not for profit production company specialising in helping people overcome social and personal barriers to develop a career in film.
The third year students had the opportunity to put the skills developed on their course to the test on the film set of 12 Days in September. They shadowed experienced specialists in a wide range of roles including camera, lighting, sound, runners and production. Many of the students involved in the project received their very first on screen film credit.
Following the success of the work experience programme, FITD and Edge Hill University’s Media Department are planning on developing their relationship further by collaborating next year on a series of workshops.
“It was an absolute pleasure to have Edge Hill University’s Film and Television students on board. The independent film industry benefits from providing practical work experience to students. They brought their own skills and were able to gain practical on set experience.”
