Professionally accredited course gives students the creative edge

Passport to success

Health and safety might not be the most glamorous aspect of film and television production but knowing your trip hazards from your fire risks is an essential part of working in today’s creative industries.

Film and Television Production students at Edge Hill have the opportunity to learn these vital ‘behind-the-scenes’ skills from industry professionals and gain a valuable additional qualification that could make their CVs stand out from the crowd. The Creative Industries Safety Passport training course, delivered by the UK’s media and entertainment trade union, BECTU, teaches students how to spot and manage risks common to the creative industries and to take personal responsibility for safety. The course is accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health and is part of its Passport scheme, which gives students a nationally recognised qualification along with enhanced employability opportunities.

“It was a very beneficial experience and I thoroughly feel that it will help me become more employable once I leave university.”
