BA (Hons) Critical Criminology with Law
Solicitor, Branch Manager
“When I was looking into which university to go to, I was really impressed by the modern feel of Edge Hill’s campus. I had a great time studying there and the highlight had to be the last night at the uni bar before the end of each term – that was always a good day!
The law degree I did gave me a good grounding in the basics of researching law and taught me how to organise my workload, which proved to be very useful later on in my career.”
Daniel is now employed as the Branch Manager at Nesbit Law Group in Liverpool. “The job does involve dealing with some personal injury cases, but mainly sees me looking after the day-to-day management of the firm and getting involved with planning for the future.
One of the things I enjoy most about my role is seeing the progress of new employees when they join the firm. We always do try to promote from within and it’s been extremely satisfying to influence a colleague’s progression, from their first interview to their qualification as a Solicitor.
To anyone looking to go into law as a career I’d recommend that you get as much advice and experience at an early stage as you can and to make sure that you are certain it is the career you want. Becoming a lawyer involves an extraordinary amount of time, effort and expense, and the competition for places gets more intense with each passing year, so it’s certainly not something to go into half-heartedly.
Looking back, I’d say that Edge Hill has had as much impact upon my personal life as my professional one. I met so many friends while there and gained a number of experiences that will hopefully last a lifetime.”
