BA (Hons) Criminology and Criminal Justice, 2010
Laura believes it impossible to find success without overcoming the many hurdles in front of us and she’s certainly packed in some adventures since enrolling at Edge Hill, going from BA to MA, travelling Australia for two years, then returning to complete a PGCE.
Within three months of working at a further education college, she was promoted to Programme Leader for Foundation Degrees and BA (Hons) top-ups, and her career is going from strength to strength, as she has recently applied to both Lancashire and Merseyside advisory committees in a bid to become a Magistrate and apply theory to practice.
Above all, her main goal is to have a lasting impact on her students. And at Edge Hill, her tutors and programme inspired Laura to focus on appreciating the journey rather than just reaching that career destination, something she now encourages her own students to recognise.
“Whilst Laura was studying her BA (Hons) in Criminology and Criminal Justice, the tutors and programme inspired her to focus on the journey opposed to the destination. Although the destination is important the journey is what has the greater impact. This is something she encourages her students to recognise, the lasting impact is appreciating the journey.”
