MUNICIPAL INVOLVEMENT IN

The main target of the conference was to emphasize and to discuss how the expanding of volunteering initiatives could influence better services within municipalities.
The conference was the final event of the project “Volunteering – Code of Active Citizenship (V-Code)”, funded by the Europe for Citizens programme, with the main target to raise awareness of volunteering. Project partnership was formed by NGOs and Universities from 6 EU countries: Lithuania, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Italy, and United Kingdom.
The conference gathered more than 100 representatives of local authorities, universities, community centres, voluntary organizations, non-governmental organizations, and governmental institutions to emphasize and to discuss how the expanding of volunteering initiatives could influence better services within municipalities. Participants from Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Italy, Netherlands, UK, Austria, Sweden, and USA shared their experiences and perspectives regarding the expanding of volunteering.
Guest speakers included Prof John Diamond, Director of the I4P research institute, who spoke about, ‘Community/University Relationships and the potential for volunteering’. Download the presentation here.
