This in-person workshop provides a comprehensive introduction into how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can support researchers of health and social care services. This Edge Hill University workshop, delivered by Professor Axel Kaehne from the Medical School, has a special focus on data analysis techniques using AI (Qualitative and Quantitative Data) and has previously been delivered on behalf of ARC North-West Coast.

Course Overview

We will explore the potential to develop logic models for practice changes using AI. The session is designed to offer researchers an in-depth understanding of the potential AI holds in transforming research in the public sector.

We will cover:

  • Introduction to AI in Healthcare: A foundational overview of AI technologies and their current and potential applications in health and social care research.
  • Data Analytics and Machine Learning: Insight into how AI can analyse large volumes of data to identify trends, patterns, and insights critical for effective research.
  • Predictive Analytics in Health Services: Examining AI’s role in forecasting patient outcomes, resource needs, and potential health service crises.
  • Developing Logic Models for Practice Changes: Guidance on using AI to create robust logic models that map out the necessary steps for implementing successful practice changes in public sector services.
  • Ethical Considerations and Challenges: Discussing the ethical implications and challenges of integrating AI into health and social care research.
  • Interactive Case Studies and Real-World Applications: Participants will engage with case studies and real-world examples to understand how AI has been successfully integrated into research and the lessons learned from these experiences.

Targeted at both early career and experienced researchers in academia and public sector organisations, this workshop aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to leverage AI in conducting research and evaluation.

By combining AI technology with the development of logic models and data analysis, participants will be prepared to address the complexities of modern services and contribute to meaningful improvements in service delivery.
