Introduction to Arts Therapies

This course serves as an introduction to art, music, drama, and dance movement therapy, collectively known as arts therapies or arts psychotherapies.

Arts therapists use creative processes within therapy to promote emotional, psychological, and social well-being. These professionals are trained at the Masters level, earning the necessary licensure to practice and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and/or UK Council for Psychotherapy.

Location: Edge Hill University, Dance Studio, Arts Centre

Time: 10am – 4pm (arrival at 9.30am)

This course is available to book for each individual day at £140 per day or as a block booking for all four days at a discounted rate of £500.

This course is an excellent opportunity to gain foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in various arts therapies, preparing participants for further study or simply broadening their understanding of therapeutic practices in the arts.

Course objective

While this introductory course does not provide licensure to practice as an arts therapist, it offers comprehensive information and practical experience in each of the different arts therapies. Participants will explore one therapy per day over four sessions.

Course schedule

Each session will take place from 10am – 4pm. Please arrive at the Dance Studio, Arts Centre, at 9.30am.
