The work of Patricia Greaves, Senior Lecturer in Creative Art & Technology at Edge Hill University, is featured in the ‘Felt… In Motion’ exhibition currently being held at The Craft Museum of Finland until 5th May 2014. The tour of the exhibition has seen her work travel through Germany, France and Italy as well.
While watching the ebb and flow of tidal water as the transient patterns and shapes altered the surface, some drifting apart, some gathering together, they echoed the casting of nets binding and releasing with a relentless, yet subtle motion.
Layers of wool combined with hand dyed netting have been rolled to produce this work as it attempts to freeze a moment in the continuum. The composition evolved during the making process, as fibres and material slipped and clung to form felt.
