Well-known historian John Tosh says that he has been several different kinds of historian throughout his career and asserts that history should be socially relevant. Do the quiz:What kind of Historian are you? (doc) to see what kind of historian you are now. Then think about the ways in which history can be socially relevant.Guidance for teachers:In your session pose the following questions
What is history?
What do historians do?
Make a note of the main conclusions of discussion. Then watch the vox pops video and discuss whether the people in the video came up with any different conclusions. You could then progress to developing those conclusions by reading further on the subject and perhaps offer some readings available online from these providers:
