Social Work Department

The Social Work Department at Edge Hill offers a range of qualifying social work programmes, practice educator programmes as well as training and development opportunities across the statutory and PVI sectors, maintaining close and dynamic links with a range of partner agencies in social work and related professions both in the UK and abroad. The staff team are all qualified and experienced social workers with practice and managerial experience in social work. Members of the Department are also engaged in research and consultancy.

The Department offers a qualifying Social Work degree, accredited by the Health and Professions Council, as well as four Nursing and Social Work integrated Masters degrees, accredited by the Nursing and Midwifery Council and Health and Care Professions Council.

For graduates looking to become professionally qualified social workers, we offer an accredited Masters course.

We continue to invest in state-of-the-art facilities for our students with £150m invested in campus developments over the last decade, including a £14 million Faculty of Health and Social Care building housing some of the best facilities for health students in the country. The University’s ambitious plans for expansion include a planned investment of £220m by 2020.

Edge Hill is also bucking the national trend and has seen applications to study increase five-fold in the past 10 years.
