Theory to Practice in Integrated Mental Health interlinks the concepts of theory, practice development and integrated working. The module emphasises the importance of working as a team and using best practice in order to achieve maximum benefit for the children, young people and families with whom you may work. You will critically reflect upon and evaluate the complexities of integrated working in the child and adolescent mental health sector, from the perspectives of both statutory and non-statutory organisations, and from the disciplines of health, education, social care and the wider care sector. You will also be encouraged to draw upon current Government documents, statistics and guidelines to gain a clear understanding of the complexities, challenges and importance of integrated working within contemporary society.

Who is this module for?
This module is suitable for those seeking to enhance knowledge, at level 7, related to child and adolescent mental health and wellbeing theories and concepts. These theories and concepts are explored in the context of integrated working practice.

The module aims to interlink the concepts of theory to practice development, and integrated working to foster the importance of working as a team and using best practice, for maximum benefit to the children, young people and families with whom practitioners may work.

The assessment comprises a written assessment
On successful completion you will:
On successful completion of the module students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of theories and concepts within a chosen area of child and adolescent mental health
2. Critically evaluate current research, knowledge and practice in relation to a chosen area of child and adolescent mental health services
3. Critically explore the importance of and the challenges associated with integrated working in respect of children, young people, families, communities and professionals in child and adolescent mental health, and suggest how these challenges could be addressed.
4. Critically reflect on the possible implications of integrated working on the quality of support provided to children and young people in the mental health setting.

As this module forms part of the MSc Child and Adolescent Mental Health, it will be open to limited numbers of stand alone students or those students who are currently studying CPD programmes within the Faculty of Health, Social Care and Medicine.
