She has a range of experience in teaching, learning and assessment in both clinical and academic settings, and this is now her main area of expertise. Initially, she taught on post-registration courses in adult critical care nursing and on NMC mentorship modules. During her varied career Helen has achieved recognition in the University Learning and Teaching Fellowship (2008-2012). She has worked specifically in the field of clinical education since 2009 and leads modules on medical education, mentoring and coaching and educational leadership. Helen is currently the Programme Leader for the Postgraduate Certificate in Workplace-based Postgraduate Medical Education.
Helen’s research interests include the role of reflective practice in the education of health professionals and she has worked with Mersey Deanery on a project which focused on ‘First year specialist trainees’ engagement with reflective practice in the e-portfolio’. Her current research is focused on exploring the impact on practice of educator development programs in postgraduate medical education.
