We encourage sustainable travel wherever possible and have developed a Travel Plan to include various sustainable travel initiatives.
The University provides a shuttle bus (EL1) connecting the campus to Ormskirk town centre, where links to other public transport routes are available. On production of your Unicard, this journey will be free of charge. For full details and to see the timetable please visit this page on our website.
Car parking at Edge Hill University is limited and cannot always accommodate all vehicles during peak periods. We therefore recommend, wherever possible, that students use public transport.
Students coming to study at Edge Hill for the first time will need to complete stage one of the enrolment process and receive a student number before a parking permit application can be made.
The issuing of parking permits is based on clear eligibility criteria, however the provision of a permit does not guarantee a parking space due to the limited capacity on campus. Even if you do have a permit, we suggest you build in sufficient time to park off campus when necessary. Details of alternative parking close to the University can be found here.
Guaranteed parking is available for permit holders who register their car sharing. You will need to book a place and both people have to be in the car with both car permits displayed in the windscreen. More details can be found on our website.
Catering on campus is provided by our in-house award-winning catering team, Food at Edge Hill. There are various outlets on campus offering a great variety of fresh and local food. All dining outlets are great social spaces in which to eat and also offer free WiFi. For more information, visit the Food at Edge Hill website.
There is an on-site McColl’s convenience store and the Students’ Union shop, both of which sell food, drink, and stationery.
In addition, the University is located close to Ormskirk town centre where you will find other shops and amenities.
To access WiFi when you are on-campus you can connect to Eduroam, using your student number and password which will be provided to you at the point you receive your email for stage one of enrolment. Remember to keep these details safe – you will need them as soon as you arrive. You will use these details to complete enrolment, access WiFi, logon to University PCs and access the online library resources and Learning Edge.
Council Tax Exemption Certificate
Once you are fully enrolled you will be able to request a Council Tax Exemption Certificate (CTEC) online. The certificate will be emailed to your Edge Hill email account. This will be valid for the current academic session only.
Please note: CTECs will only be available from the first teaching week of term and this will differ depending on the term dates of your programme. A button to request a CTEC will be made available via your student record on the students homepage during your first week of term. If the button doesn’t appear and you think you are eligible, please contact the enrolment team on email@example.com.
Edge Hill Sport
Edge Hill Sport provides a focus for all sports, fitness and leisure activities on campus. There really is something for everyone regardless of your sporting ability or motivations. Whether that is support for an elite athlete on a sports scholarship; those who want to play in university sports teams; those who want to keep fit or those who just want to try new activities or have an occasional social game with friends; we will help you achieve your goals.
