The award was confirmed following submission of evidence and a two day assessment visit in October 2012.
On hearing the news, Bill Hancox, Director of Facilities Management commented:

It is testimony to their on-going commitment to customer service. This achievement is atypical of FM departments in the sector due to their size, structure, complexity and customer profile. This is just the beginning of our journey – a journey of continual improvement. We now have professional, objective confirmation of what our students, staff and visitors have been telling us about FM, and our excellent University.
CSE is a Government standard which shows that a service area has been independently assessed and validated as achieving excellence in customer service.
As well as providing validation of achievement, CSE aims to drive continuous service improvement, and supports staff in developing their customer-focused skills to build capacity for delivering improved services.
