Motherhood and Modernity: The forgotten songs and piano works of Ethel Leginska

In this concert, Edge Hill’s Dr Lee Tsang explores aspects of Leginska’s appealing and distinctive compositional voice by introducing today’s audiences to the musical imagery of her forgotten songs and piano works. There is also an exhibition on 21st May, which provides new insight into Leginska’s activities and relationships, her constructed image(s) and ‘voice(s)’ and their contexts.

The Relationship Between Music and Crime

Dr Eleanor Peters will discuss the use of music in crime control, prevention and punishment, and will explore blatant misuses of music for harmful ends, many of which contravene people’s human rights and civil liberties.
