15th Oct 2019, 5:30pm - 9:00pm

Creative Edge

As part of this year’s Festival of Ideas, ICE is delighted to be welcoming British film legend, Mike Hodges, to host a screening of his classic Flash Gordon.

Best known for directing Get Carter and the 1980’s release of Flash Gordon, Mike Hodges has most recently directed a biographical documentary feature for Hurricane Films, in collaboration with ICE. All At Sea is an insight into Hodges’ life, looking at his time spent in the Royal Navy before “drifting” towards the beginning of his career in the film industry.

Mike Hodges will be joining us at Edge Hill University for a screening of his classic, Flash Gordon. Following the screening, Mike will be joined on the sofa by ICE Director, Professor Martin McQuillan for a conversation on his films, the path his career took and his life in general. There will also be the opportunity for an audience Q&A.

This is a FREE event, open to the public (registration is essential).

This event is part of Edge Hill University’s annual Festival of Ideas. Programmed by the University’s three Research Institutes, ISR, ICE and HRI, this year the festival will explore the theme of Exchanges: Creativity, Community, Curiosity.

The exchange of ideas is the fuel of the knowledge and creative economy. Locally, nationally and internationally we are all involved in sharing concepts, swapping insights, and trading opinions. This year’s festival explores communication, reciprocity, and transactions in all areas, from policy making to healthcare, social enterprise to cultural production. Be the exchange you want to see
