These live evening sessions for students will run Monday to Thursday, focusing on relevant topics each month in line with the research and application timeline.

Topic: Introduction to Higher Education
Day and time:
Mondays, 5pm-6pm

This session will examine the benefits of progressing onto Higher Education (HE), discuss the pros and cons of moving away or living at home for university, provide advise on how to choose a university and course that’s best for you, and explore the support and additional opportunities available at university.

Topic: Preparing for Open Days and Higher Education Fairs
Day and time:
 Tuesdays, 5pm-6pm

This session will help you to think about how to prepare for open days and higher education fairs and how to make the most out of these events. We will discuss the different types of higher education fairs and open days available, including both in-person and virtual events, as well as topics we’d recommend researching before attending and possible questions to ask. We’ll also cover how to register for such events, what to take with you and some top tips to make the most out of the day and reflect effectively afterwards.

Topic: Student Finance
Day and time:
 Wednesdays, 5pm-6pm

This session will explain the different between a Tuition Fee Loan and Maintenance Loan, how to apply for such loans through Student Finance, and how to repay your loan once you graduate. It will also cover the additional financial support available e.g. scholarships.

Topic: Submitted your UCAS application – what next?
Day and time:
 Thursdays, 5pm-6pm

This session examines what happens when your submit your UCAS application, advice on how to consider and answer your offers, the transition to University study as well as some finance and budgeting aspects. The session also looks at accommodation processes and what to expect in your first week, including some excellent top tips!
