ISR Public Event: Inspiring Innovation in Women’s Social Enterprise

8th Mar 2021, 5:00pm - 6:00pm

Join us to celebrate International Women’s Day 2021 with a talk from local social entrepreneur Paula Gamester.

Paula has long been a role model for women in social enterprise and her own CIC, Connector Media, has provided support and confidence building to many.

One of its current projects, the Sewing Rooms in Skelmersdale, runs a range of creative programmes; one is aimed at women over 50, another at young mothers. The Sewing Rooms is also commercially successful and holds large contracts with prestigious hotels to supply soft furnishings.

Paula will speak about the journey that brought her to social entrepreneurialism and will share the insights she has developed along the way. Please click here to book your place.

Paula’s particular specialism is in the development and expansion of the commercial aspects of social enterprises, ultimately bringing about the sustainability of the organisation and its social activities. She has served as a board member of the prestigious Blackburne House Group, and most recently headed up all enterprise activity within the Group. She is also a board member of West Lancs College and sits on the Skelmersdale Place Board. She is committed to social impact and a graduate of the School for Social Entrepreneurs.

Paula strives to embed the triple bottom line concept of People, Planet, Profit into the ethos and values of all her work, especially now in The Sewing Rooms and Connector Media.
During the pandemic the company pivoted their manufacturing to make bespoke branded masks making over 50,000 masks for the private sector and giving 50,000 away to the most vulnerable , key workers and local community.
