ISR Seminar Series – Using the Creative Industries for Good: Equality, Ecofeminism and Ethical Living – Rachel McClelland, CEO and Founder, Planet Shine

Humanity is at a critical point; as a result of the IPCC report, the rise of Extinction Rebellion and the media coverage of Greta Thunberg, the climate emergency is centre stage.

It is claimed that the sustainability revolution will be bigger than the agricultural, industrial and digital revolutions combined.

It’s a frightening but potentially exciting time. We have the opportunity to save the planet and change our lives for the better, forever.

But to what degree can creative industries play a role in saving the planet?

Rachel McClelland has been in the media industry for twenty years, working with the likes of UK director Michael Winterbottom and on projects with Dizzee Rascal, Jay Z and Calvin Harris, to name a few. Over the last few years, she has combined filmmaking with purpose, working with a number of sustainability focused brands and earlier this year, launched Planet Shine, a film production agency and media channel set up to challenge the status quo and change the narrative.
