Deep Cuts Away Day #2 – Charity Shop Pop, Podge, Green Tangerines
It’s always lovely to be invited back. And thankfully after our first Deep Cuts outing at Edge Hill University, we’ve been asked to host another – this time on Wednesday November 13.
Hammerhead Snails represent a fresh new outfit with swaggering, easy on the ear guitar-fuelled melodies. While hip-pop experimentalist Podge offers summery electronica for the soul.
Alongside them, comes CHARITY SHOP POP – a name readers to our pages and Edge Hill students need little introduction to. However, David Hughes‘ rise since we last saw him in March has been impressive.
Playlisted by Spotify and a succession of support dates in Liverpool have marked him out as one to watch – he’ll be headlining this Deep Cuts away day for his first top of the bill offering.
Our final act is our first from Liverpool to play the away day – Green Tangerines are a quintet fusing jazz, soul and funk into a heady brew of magik.
Sarah Sands (saxophone, vocals), Jack O’Hanlon (guitar, vocals), Sam Taylor (trumpet, vocals), Fran Mills (bass guitar, vocals) and Tom Hudson (drums) cite Steely Dan, Stevie Wonder and contemporary jazz legends Snarky Puppy as their influences and it’s all there to revel in with their enchanting mix of sonics.
And the best bit? Once again, Deep Cuts away day is FREE. Yup, four boss live bands in an inclusive space for nowt.
First time out was good, we expect this to be even better.
Free, no tickets required.
