The Great Get Together will be bringing the community to Edge Hill University. Creating an event for everyone to enjoy, staff, students, and members of the local community are welcome, to enjoy crafts, live performances and a FREE barbecue.
This year at Edge Hill University, through our Wonder Women campaign, we are celebrating 100 years of some women having the right to vote. The late MP, Jo Cox, was one such Wonder Woman and “The Great Get Together” was established in her honour for people who want to bring our communities together and celebrate all that unites us.
- 4.00pm – 7.30pm – Opening, activities including music, arts and crafts and performances, including music from the Edge Hill Big Band and the Tick Tock’s choir; face painting; a bouncy castle; performances from the Rose Youth Theatre, The Women’s Institute and Edge Hill students; and a speech from MP Seema Kennedy on Jo Cox’s life and work.
- 5.00pm – 7.00pm – BBQ
‘The Great Get Together’ is a community event celebrating the life and beliefs of Jo Cox: compassion, understanding and optimism. With 2018 also marking the celebration of 100 years since women were granted the right to vote in the UK, this event will be part of The University’s Wonder Women Celebrations and also be a reflection on The Festival of Ideas.
