It is often said that ‘young people are the leaders of tomorrow’. What we rarely see or hear is recognition that young people lead in our communities today. Additionally, young women often face a double barrier in having their leadership recognised because of age and gender.
This workshop aims to bring together young women leaders and champions of young women’s leadership to talk about what is working, and to explore how to address the barriers that remain.
The event will culminate with a discussion around ongoing work that organisations like the Girl Guides and YWCA are doing locally and globally to ensure that young women’s leadership is strengthened and recognised, and to make the case that young women are leaders of today and not just tomorrow, to governments, councils and organisations.
