Edge Hill University Big Band are a recently formed ensemble using the collaborative forces of students, teachers, lecturers and members of the local community.

This powerful and dynamic 17 piece big band are directed by Phil Shotton, who himself, regularly performs alongside many national and international jazz artists and has appeared at major jazz festivals, venues and music festivals throughout the country and abroad.

EHUBB have a vast repertoire of music from the 1930’s to the present day and pride themselves on being a versatile ensemble adapting to the different styles of performance for the various genres of big band music. Alongside the big band vocalist Corinne Andrew provides a touch of glamour to the heady mix of blues, swing, bebop and fusion jazz.

This performance will see Phil and the Big Band charting the development of the big bands from the swing era to the present day all in chronological order. Join us for this whistle stop tour of the great big bands in The Big Band Story.
