A Christmas Carol

2nd Dec 2017, 7:30pm

The Arts Centre

Saturday 2nd December 7:30pm

Following on from last year’s sell-out tour, European Arts Company returns with a heart-warming evening in the presence of the author himself. A Christmas Carol was the first public reading Charles Dickens gave of his own work. He enacted it over 150 times and the effect on the public was phenomenal. This Christmas, you can experience what it must have been like to be in the audience! Actor John O’Connor faithfully recreates Dickens’s famous performance of his best-loved ghost story. Come and enjoy a seasonal treat in the spirit of Christmas past, present and future.

“I am as light as a feather, I am as happy as an angel, I am as merry as a school-boy. I am as giddy as a drunken man. A merry Christmas to everybody! A Happy New Year to all the world!”

Directed by Peter Craze. In support of the children’s charity Barnardo’s.

Actor John O’Connor talks about his performance of A Christmas Carol in recent BBC Radio Lancashire interview http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p05k5lry
