“The feeling of playing in one place whilst being in another. Or what is now expressed in sound is somehow embodied with the trace of an experience now removed and memory becoming a dislocation in time of the present. Perhaps musical expression summons a period between states of watching and states of dreaming. Invocation or declaration, imagined or altered parallel time; a sort of hovering reality.”

A saxophonist for over thirty years in the UK, Jan specializes in improvisational music – drawing on jazz, Eastern European and contemporary influences. He has led the successful contemporary jazz group PINSKI ZOO for 25 years – regularly touring the UK, Europe, New York and Poland, and playing at major jazz festivals, concerts and clubs to critical acclaim. He has recorded several radio and TV broadcasts, as well as 13 albums on various record labels, including live recordings from concerts in Poland, Austria, New York and the UK.
