A Pound of Flesh shows Shakespeare’s ‘Outsider’ characters, Caliban and Shylock, in today’s world. This new play cracks open ‘Others’ in our charged times. New South African music haunts.
Part of the play was first staged at the Global Shakespeare Congress at Vaclav Havel’s invitation.

The play was created by Rob Gordon, Professor of Drama and Director of the Pinter Centre, Goldsmiths, and esteemed UK theatre scholar – and David Peimer, EHU Professor, Associate Director (Pinter Centre), first English speaking director (Havel’s Theatre), award winner for playwriting, directing in South Africa, New York.
