“Talking about dying won’t make it happen!”

National Dying Matters Awareness Week 2016, runs from 9-15 May.

The theme of this year’s event, The Big Conversation, aims to raise public awareness about the importance of talking more openly about death and dying and what matters most to all concerned.  On a practical level, it may be organising the writing of a will. From an emotional perspective it may be getting in touch with a person with whom you’ve lost contact, and for some it may concern fulfilling a lifelong ambition. If these important conversations do take place, all those involved are left with greater peace of mind, less regrets and grief although still painful is less complicated.

The event will promote some of the initiatives and research currently being explored at Edge Hill University and in the wider health and social care sector; with posters, short films, and demonstrations to provoke thought and discussion about the importance of making others aware of what we want at the end of our lives.

Refreshments will be provided.
