Maternity Care: Engaging with fathers and families around the world – Professor Mary Steen
Mary will discuss the relevance of engaging fathers and families in maternal and infant health care; the positive benefits of inclusive practice; and how the World Health Organisation is promoting this initiative for all maternal and newborn health services globally.
Mary is Professor of Midwifery at the University of South Australia and Honorary Professor at the Universities of Port Harcourt in Nigeria and Chester in UK. She is the Chair of the Mothers, Babies & Families Research Group. She has a vast amount of nursing and midwifery clinical experience in hospital and community settings, and has been researching maternity care for over 20 years. Her PhD research investigated and explored the care and consequences of perineal trauma after childbirth.
