“Worrying changes nothing, Talking changes everything”

Student Services, the Students’ Union, the Faculties and Human Resources have come together to articulate in one plan a summary of the work we are currently doing with respect to promoting mental health and encouraging people to talk openly about it – thereby helping to end discrimination.

As part of this collective work we are promoting Time to Change.  Time to Change is England’s most ambitious programme to improve attitudes towards mental health, helping to end the stigma and discrimination experienced by those with mental illness.  Edge Hill staff and students are supporting the Time to Change programme through the submission of a joint Pledge Action Plan (already submitted) and signing a pledge making a commitment to help end discrimination against mental illness. Our pledge includes a collaborative programme of initiatives to raise awareness and to enhance the mental wellbeing of our staff and students.  Signing of the pledge coincides with our Mental Health Awareness day hosted by the Students’ Union, Student Services, academic departments and the Staff Wellbeing Team at 12.00 on the 27th March.  This event is entitled ‘Worrying changes nothing, Talking changes everything” and signing the Time to Change pledge is the highlight and focal point of the event, since it reflects our ongoing commitment to help raise awareness of mental health issues and help end discrimination.

Time to Change Pledge – our commitment to help end discrimination and promote awareness of mental health.
