In his talk, Dr Gidley will discuss the myths and realities of the last decade of mass immigration in the UK. He will explore whether public fears about immigration and its impact on the country are well founded, and what drives these fears in British society.

Dr Gidley is a Senior Researcher at the Centre for Migration and Policy Studies at the University of Oxford. He writes on the impact of diversity, racism, and the politics of migrant citizenship, and was one of the academics consulted by Home Office Science for its report on the Local Impact of Migration.
