If you are thinking about a career in Learning Disabilities Nursing or Operating Department Practice, come along to our open evening to find out more.
BSc (Hons) Nursing (Learning Disabilities)
This degree enables you to work as a learning disabilities nurse with both children and adults in a variety of community settings, ranging from residential homes, supported living provision, specialist behavioural and/or assessment units, or working as part of a community learning disability team. Additionally it enables you to work within mainstream services, such as Acute Trusts and prisons, in evolving roles which specifically support people with learning disabilities within these services.
As a specialist nurse you will be able to develop an individual package of care designed to offer the appropriate levels of support to meet the needs of the person with learning disabilities. This degree is for anyone who wishes to work closely with individuals and their families to promote healthcare and develop individual competence.
This programme is NHS-funded and students receive a means-tested NHS Bursary.
