The 8th meeting of the Language Variation and Change conference (UKLVC8) will be held at Edge Hill University from 12th to 14th September 2011. UK Language Variation and Change is a bi-annual conference series which provides a regular forum in Britain for the presentation and discussion of recent international research in variation and change and sociolinguistics at all levels of linguistic structure (phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, discourse). Presentations at UKLVC8 will promote further understanding of both theory and method within the field and to disseminate new research findings. The eighth conference in this series also aims to identify current and emerging interdisciplinary trends within variationist sociolinguistics, a field which has been established for over forty years. An additional aim is to promote the work of new researchers within the field. The local organising committee consists of: Lourdes Burbano Elizondo Deborah Chirrey Lucy Jones
