International Day of the Midwife

Edge Hill University celebrates the International Day of the Midwife with a free event in the Faculty of Health on Thursday 5th May 2011. 

Speakers include Robinah Mbabazi and Emmanuel Nzabonimpa, a midwife and nurse respectively at Shyira Maternity Hospital in Rwanda, who will talk about their experiences of addressing maternal and child morbidity and mortality. The subject matter will also be addressed by Jane Morgan, Head of Midwifery at Edge Hill University.

The programme for the day is as follows:

  • 1pm-1:30pm – Fairtrade refreshments and poster exhibition
  • 1:30pm-3:30pm – Talk: Addressing Millennium Development Goals in Rwanda

A poster exhibition to coincide with the International Day of the Midwife runs from 4th May to 6th May in the Faculty of Health foyer, demonstrating how individuals and groups address maternal and child needs in the national and international community.
