2nd December 2010, Official Opening of Edge Hill TV Studio with Peter Salmon, Ormskirk Campus

BBC’s Director of the North Peter Salmon launched the new University TV Studio in an official ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by leading figures in the North West media.  

The man who is leading the development of the world’s most advanced broadcasting centre at Salford Quays with BBC MediaCity added the finishing touch to a £208,000 upgrade and refurbishment of the facility, which now features the latest cutting edge High Definition Cameras and editing tools.

Whilst on campus, Peter also held a questions and answer session with students, where he spoke about the great employment opportunities that the new MediaCityUK will create when it opens in 2011.

After working as a volunteer teacher, press officer and newspaper reporter, Peter Salmon joined the BBC as a General Trainee in 1981 and has worked on Blue Peter, Newsnight, produced Crimewatch UK and was co-creator of Sport Relief.   Peter plays a lead role in the development of network production in the north of England.
