Alumni Networking Event: Taking the Next Step

Whether you are looking for your next career move, might want to start your own business or are established in your career, our alumni networking events teach essential skills and advice for the workplace, and are a way of promoting yourself, your company and developing new contacts.

The guest speaker at our second networking event will be Peter Davies. Since graduating from Edge Hill in the 1970’s, Peter has had a varied career, working at Microsoft, IBM and, latterly, as European Legal Director at Apple. Since leaving Apple, he has held a visiting fellowship at the Oxford Internet Institute at Balliol College, Oxford, and is an external advisor to the UK internet domain name registry Nominet and the European Commission.

Peter will be offering advice about making bold career steps and how to develop your career in a recession. He will reveal some of the secrets of the success of some of the high profile characters he has worked with, which include Bill Gates, Chairman of Microsoft and Steve Jobs, Chief Executive of Apple.

Following Peter’s talk there will be the opportunity to informally network with other delegates which includes Edge Hill alumni, university staff and the business community.

You and a colleague are invited to attend the event, which includes drinks and canapés and the chance to tour the new Business, Law and Criminology building.

Schedule

  • 5pm – Registration/Refreshments
  • 6pm – Introduction from John Vaughan, Director of Edge Hill Business School
  • 6:15pm – Peter Davies, Consultant and Edge Hill alumnus
  • 7pm – Informal networking session
  • 8:15pm – Finish
