Participants: Early Years teachers, practitioners, leaders, and managers, and all Early Years Education students.

CPD theme: Evidence based practice

Description:

Research into the patterns (schemas) that seem to underpin young children’s learning has helped many early years practitioners and parents to understand more about how children learn and what they need to help them further develop in their learning (Nutbrown, 2007).

In this session we will explore the different schemas, and how practitioners can identify schemas and use this knowledge to support young children’s learning.

Learning outcomes:

  1. Explore the different schemas to support young children’s learning
  2. Reflect upon how practitioners can identify schemas and use this knowledge in practice
