Jazz in The Red Bar With The Phil Shotton Quartet
Monday 17 April 8pm
FREE No tickets required, just turn up
Phil Shotton and his quartet regularly perform alongside many national and international jazz artists and have appeared at major jazz festivals, venues and music festivals throughout the country and abroad. With a tenor sound reminiscent of Coleman Hawkins, Ben Webster and Dexter Gordon, Phil is gaining the reputation of a highly sought-after soloist. The Quartet includes Dr Tom Sykes, Piano. Matt Lawton, Double Bass and Jez Finch, Drums.
For the evening The Red Bar will become a cabaret style jazz club and the quartet will entertain you by playing jazz standards from the 1930’s onwards and popular songs from the American songbook – swing music at its best. During the second half of the performance, audience members can ‘sit in’ with the quartet and experience playing with a professional group.
If you are a vocalist or instrumentalist and would like to sit in with the band for a number or two during the second set, this can be arranged on the night.
