Our 8th annual biology olympiad will be taking place on Wednesday 15 June 2022. The olympiad is aimed at Year 12 biology students, and will test biological knowledge and skills whilst giving a taste of studying at undergraduate level. The programme for this event is soon to be announced, but planned activities are synced with the Biology A/AS Level syllabus, and each will include a short introductory piece. Last year’s event included activities on:
- fruit DNA extraction
- the human heart
- species identification
Schedule (subject to change):
- 9.45am-10.15am – arrival and welcome
- 10.15am-11.40am – competition Activities
- 11.45am-2pm – lunch
- 12.35pm-2pm – competition Activities
- 2.10pm-2.30pm – results and prize giving
We invite you to select students to attend in teams of 3-5 students. Please note that we will have a maximum of 100 students at the event, with a maximum of two teams per school. The day will also include a demonstration of the scanning electron microscope (booked separately) and students will leave with their own thermal imaging camera photo.
