Biography

Professor Ming Cheng joined the Faculty of Education in November 2018. She has over 15 years’ international experience of teaching and research in British and Chinese universities.

Professor Cheng is an active peer reviewer for twelve international journals, serves as an editorial board member and an Associate Editor for two international journals: Quality in Higher Education and Higher Education Evaluation and Development.

Professor Cheng is the winner of the 2020 Innovative Research in International Education Award, issued by NAFSA’s Teaching, Learning, and Scholarship Knowledge Community (TLS KC). https://www.nafsa.org/about/about-nafsa/innovative-research-international-education-award

Professor Cheng was also nominated for the Erik de Corte Award by European Association for Research on Learning and Instruction (EARLI) in 2013 and she received Society for Research into Higher Education (SRHE) Newer Researchers Prize in 2010.

Professor Cheng has a track record of winning research grants from external funding bodies such as Quality Assurance Agency, Higher Education Academy, QA-QE SIG funding, Society for Research into Higher Education (SRHE), British Association for International & Comparative Education (BAICE), and Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).

Research Interests

Professor Cheng is interested in exploring ways of improving the quality of university education, enhancing academics’ professionalism, and improving students’ learning experiences. Her most recent monograph is entitled Quality in Higher Education: Developing a Virtue of Professional Practice:
