About us

Dr Tim Lucas, Associate Dean for Teacher Education

Welcome from the Associate Dean for Teacher Education

As Associate Dean for Teacher Education I would like to introduce you to our suite of Initial Teacher Education programmes here at Edge Hill University.

We are delighted to be able to offer a series of programmes, modules and themes for a variety of phases and age ranges, which provide a holistic approach to teacher development.

At the core of our programmes is a commitment to nurture teachers who have a heightened sense of the contexts in which they will work in the future, and equip them with the tools they will need to make a difference to children and young people’s lives and life chances.

There are three core pillars which are central to all our ITE provision at the different phases:

  • Personal and professional attitudes, values and beliefs
  • Subject and curriculum knowledge
  • The craft of teaching and pedagogy

Engagement with the themes below will enable the teachers of tomorrow to shape their own identities as informed and committed members of both academic and professional communities. We very much look forward to working with you and supporting you on that journey.
