Reading the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) evidence base

How do students learn? What does the evidence really say about learning? What does the Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Core Content Framework (CCF) mean for educators? How can we go further than the CCF? What other research can we draw on? These are some of the questions that Reading the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) evidence base addresses.

Reading the ITE evidence base is a regular online reading group for all beginner teachers or those supporting beginner teachers. The reading group is hosted by Edge Hill University and meets at 4pm on the first Wednesday of each month. The aim of the reading group is to share insights and encourage critical discussion of the listed evidence base that appears in both the Department for Education’s ITT Core Content framework and the Early Career Framework.

Typically, an invited speaker will begin by summarising a paper of their choice from the framework documents and then suggest questions or issues arising from the paper which facilitate breakout room discussions.

This is a great opportunity to share ideas and meet colleagues interested in education.

All welcome

The group is open to all involved in supporting new teachers or interested in educational research more generally. This includes mentors, beginner teachers, teacher educators, researchers, academics and students. There is no requirement for you to be associated with Edge Hill University.

Dates

We meet online at 4pm-5pm on the first Wednesday of the month. The sessions have been timed so that colleagues working in schools will be able to attend.
