Biography

Linda France has been part of the Faculty of Education at Edge Hill University since 2009. Linda currently works in the position of Course Leader for BA Hons Early Years Practice and BA Hons Leadership.   Her qualifications include MA in Education, PGCertHTLS,  a degree in  Early Childhood Studies from Metropolitan University of North London and the professional  practice qualifications NNEB and DPQS which relate to early years. Linda is a Fellow of the Higher Teaching Academy. A career in childcare has enabled her to gain experience in a range of settings including Special School, Nursery Education, Social Services, Children’s Centres and Private providers. This work has led to practical knowledge of the sector through employment in urban and inner city surroundings. Linda’s experience of leadership and management in both Local Authority and Private settings  spanned many years resulting in her the ability to successfully lead teams through many changes within the sector as a consequence of political and policy developments. Linda is recognised as an expert in business management in Early Years settings, skills in strategic planning for growth and sustainability as well as implementation of quality assurance systems. In addition to this, Linda demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of leading and developing teams, mentoring and coaching staff. Linda is proud of many key achievements during her career including recognition of teaching and learning standards through the National Student Survey with above average scores across all Early Years Programmes. To compliment this she has been nominated for the student led awards for Excellence in Teaching every year since its inception. Current research interests relates to employability in the early years sector.

Research

Linda’s research interests relate to MA in Education where interests support the teaching of part time, widening participation students engaged in Early Years study.

Her main passion is to ensure that Edge Hill Early Years students are high calibre, inspirational and passionate practitioners with the pre requisite skills to succeed and make a difference in the field of early years.
