History:

Rob has worked in a range of Secondary schools both in the UK and in the Middle East. He has held a range of positions of responsibility and worked in a number of roles. Rob has experience as a Head of Department, Exams Officer and Outdoor Education Co-ordinator. Alongside his teaching practice he is also an Additional Ofsted Inspector. Rob is recognised for his expertise in Physical Education and Initial Teacher Education. Academically Rob’s research focuses on High Quality Physical Education and the concept of Physical Literacy. Professionally Rob is passionate about allowing all children to experience high quality Physical Education. He is committed to this and to ensuring they continue to be physically active throughout their lives.

After working for 21 years in school, Dr Rob Burgess has worked in Higher Education for fourteen years. Academically he is qualified with a Bachelor of Education (Hons), Master in Education and has completed a Doctorate encompassing:
