What’s Your Story, Chorley? is our popular fun-filled annual Festival of Words with more than 50 authors, storytellers, poets, actors and musicians taking part in a number of venues across the town centre.
There promises to be something for all the family to enjoy throughout the day.
New for this year is our exciting Book Bench Trail. We have been working with local schools and Edge Hill University to create the trail around the town centre in the run up to the event and on the day itself.
The brightly coloured benches are being designed and decorated by pupils from nine local schools – and there will be one bench, outside the Covered Market on Cleveland Street, that people will be able to help decorate on the day. (based on Characters from children’s books)
Our thanks go to the schools participating in the Book Bench Project:
- Chorley Duke Street
- Chorley St Laurence’s
- Chorley Sacred Heart
- Chorley St James’
- Coppull St John’s
- Coppull Parish
- Coppull St Oswald’s
- Brinscall St John’s
- Christ Chuch, Charnock Richard
And also to Edge Hill University for co-ordinating the Project.
The Book Bench Project aims to encourage children to explore books and the joy of reading as they decide how to decorate their bench.
The decorated benches are the property of the schools and will go back to the schools which designed them to become a feature to continue to inspire children to read.
