Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be additional cleaning?

The facility will be cleaned prior to the sessions starting and we will be providing additional cleaning of equipment between classes and after sessions.

Will all equipment / apparatus be available?

Not all equipment or apparatus can currently be used and there will be less stations available during each session however we will continue to provide as much variety as possible. Hand equipment and personal equipment must not be shared by gymnasts.

Can the Gymnastics Coaches spot / provide support?

Coaches will not be able to physically support their gymnasts unless in an emergency to avoid an accident or injury. Alternative coaching methods will be utilised to ensure the safety of the gymnasts.

What skills will be undertaken?

Following the prolonged break from gymnastics there will be a phased return to the activity including a repetition of skills. Progression of skills will take place when the coaching team establish that the fitness, technical skill and confidence of gymnasts allow more difficult skills to be completed safely.

What is the maximum class size?

To maintain social distancing the capacity within the facility is limited to a maximum of 40 people on the gym floor. There is a reduction to the number of gymnasts that a head coach can supervise which has also reduced the maximum capacity for the session.

Gymnasts will only be able to attend the class they are invited to. Once the block has started and gymnasts have been allocated their class, they will remain in that class time for the duration of the block.

How long will the classes be?

Initially to aid the class structure and part of the phased reintroduction to gymnastics lesson will be of 75 minutes duration. To avoid crossover of gymnasts with different class times, class start times will be staggered.

Will there be hand sanitiser available?

There will be Hand Sanitiser points at the entrance and at key points throughout the centre and each group will have a hand sanitiser to enable gymnasts to hand sanitiser during the session.

Where will the gymnasts be dropped off from and collected from?

We are asking for parents to drop off their gymnast at the usual entrance of the facility prior to the start of the session (Point A on the Edge Hill Sport Gymnastics Club Campus Map). To aid a one-way system, collection will be from the fire exit point (point B on the Edge Hill Sport Gymnastics Club Campus Map). This is access from the Durning Centre side of the Wilson Building and using the ramps to the outside of the fire exit. Please remember to social distance whilst waiting to collect your gymnast.

Are spectators allowed?

We are requesting that only 1 parent / guardian can attend the facility with the gymnast. Unfortunately, due to the restrictions spectator facilities are extremely limited, therefore if you do not need to spectate from the balcony please drop off your gymnast and return to collection. Please follow the capacity limits for the spectator area on the balcony.

What should the gymnast bring?

We are asking that gymnasts only bring items that are required for gymnastic sessions and have a bag to store any items (e.g. jumper, drinks bottle) that will not be used whilst participating. Please clearly label any drinks bottles with the gymnast’s name. The water fountains will not be available.

Are Face Coverings required?

We are always asking anyone 11 years and older to wear a face covering (unless exempt) whilst in the building. Gymnasts should not wear a face covering during the activity but may elect to wear them at other times whilst not on apparatus, or between apparatus. Gymnasts 11 years and older should wear the face covering up to the warm up period and resume wearing a face covering after the cool down and end of the session. Although it is not compulsory whilst coaching our coaching team may elect to wear a face covering throughout sessions.
