Re opening Information – 2 December 2020

Further to our recent correspondence earlier this week, as the government have given advanced notice that all gyms will be able to reopen as of 2 December 2020, we are delighted to inform you we will be putting plans in place to now reopen on this date.

Unfortunately as it has now been confirmed we will be in Tier 3 restrictions upon reopening, this will mean that we won’t be able to operate our exercise classes indoors, however we will be offering limited outdoor group exercise classes, bookable via our online shop.

We are working on our updated class timetable for reopening which will be available on our website and social media sites shortly.

We will also be continuing to offer the following aspects of our virtual service via the My Wellness app:

> Virtual class timetable
> Virtual assessments
> Workout of the day
> Gym challenges
> Mini challenges
> Beat the instructor
> On demand classes

To access the above you will need to download the ‘My Wellness’ app from Google play or the app store and this will have our live virtual classes, specific workout routines, and a catalogue of classes for you to enjoy at home.

Please keep checking on our website for further updates including our Christmas opening times and further timetable updates.

4 November 2020

4th November 2020 – Second National Lockdown

Following the government guidance and the decision to close all gyms and leisure centres, this unfortunately means we will have to close the Sports Centre to our customers as of Thursday 5th November until restrictions are lifted and we are able to reopen.

As ever, our prime focus is to keep everyone active in these uncertain times. If you haven’t already done so we encourage you to download the ‘MyWellness’ app from the Google Play or App Store. This will have our live virtual classes, specific workout routines, and a catalogue of classes for you to enjoy at home. Please also follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see other workout routines as well as any further information.

Those customers with a paid, active membership will be contacted directly to the email address we hold on your account to inform you of the following action on your membership:

Student memberships:

Community memberships:

  • All Direct Debits have now been frozen from the date of closure therefore no further payments will be taken until we reopen. Please note that cancelling any Direct Debit subscriptions directly via your bank during the closure may result in you being unable to recommence your membership following reopening. We will email our Direct Debit members to inform you when these payments are due to restart following reopening.
  • All Annual Community memberships will be extended to cover the time of closure.

If you need any further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch by emailing edgehillsport@edgehill.ac.uk. Please note that we will endeavour to respond as quickly as we can but given the current situation there may be a delay, so please bear with us.

Do keep checking our website which we’ll keep up to date for further information.

28 August 2020

As part of the phased reopening of the Sports Centre we are pleased to announce the pool will be reopening from Tuesday 1 September 2020.

We will have to limit the numbers in the pool and restrict access at times in the short term, with booking processes in place. We will constantly review this in line with Government and Public Health guidance.

Please refer to our Frequently Asked Questions section to see further details on our re-opening plans.

Student Memberships

Student memberships will be reactivated from 1 September and extended for the total period of the Sport Centre closure.

From 1st September 2020 students are able to transfer the monetary value of their remaining membership towards another membership should they so wish.  Please be aware this value will decrease the closer it gets to your expiry date so early action is recommended if you do wish to do this.

We thank you for your continued patience during this time and look forward to seeing you in person soon.

Please watch our Sports Centre Reopening Video on the changes that you will see when you return.

10 July 2020

We’re delighted that the Government has announced that gyms and leisure centres can reopen on 25 July 2020 and we can’t wait to welcome our customers back when it is safe to do so.

As our facilities are located within a campus-based University, our approach to re-opening is going to be a little different to the wider sport and leisure sector as we have a lot of other factors to take into account.

Currently, planning is well underway on the basis that the University will be able to re-open the campus safely for students at the beginning of the academic year (end of September), which means respecting social distancing and other Government guidelines.

In light of these plans, the University is taking a phased approach to reopening the campus over the summer, which means that the Sports Centre will not reopen when the leisure sector is able to do so.

In preparation, we’ve redefined our cleaning regimes and safety standards in anticipation. When you come back, you’ll also notice the workout areas will look a little different, but you’ll still get everything you need for a great workout.

Please be assured that we are very keen to re-open as soon as possible in line with the University’s phased re-opening and will keep you informed of these plans and what it means for you.

We thank you for your continued patience during this time and look forward to seeing you in person soon.
