Edge Hill University has joined forces with two national employers to help boost career opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Edge Hill University has joined forces with two national employers to help boost career opportunities for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The University has signed up to RE:Action 24/7, a new social mobility programme developed by education and employability firm TG Consulting and national rental agency Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

RE:Action 24/7 has been developed to help demonstrate the progressive journeys to employment for students from under-represented communities.

Becka Colley Foster, Interim Head of Careers at Edge Hill University, said: “This is an exciting programme that will provide our students with the secrets of becoming more resilient, more confident and ultimately more successful in their future career.

“Opportunity for all is a key component of the University’s ethos and we want our students to feel empowered in the knowledge that they can reach their full potential. We’re looking forward to seeing what opportunities and learning experiences our students will take from the programme.”

Starting from February 2022, the programme will offer 300 Edge Hill students access to 24 live sessions including inspirational keynotes, personal development seminars and aspirational employment masterclasses.

TG Consulting specialises in student engagement, graduate employability, diversity and inclusion and works with higher education providers, corporates and SMEs to break down barriers to employment and improve access to opportunities for those individuals who face barriers to employment.

TG Consulting Director Tonia Galati said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Enterprise Rent-A-Car to support the discovery of the best talent for the UK economy, no matter their social mobility status, background or ethnicity.”

“It is a collaborative programme, bringing together students from numerous institutions to share the experience. Our speakers and facilitators are diverse and are from assorted backgrounds to provide varied views and exposure to different experiences.

“Key themes include self-belief, confidence, overcoming adversity, positivity and mindset, resilience, adapting to change and networking. We work with institutions and organisations to remove the barriers which are in place for the under-represented.”

Clare Beynon, Talent Acquisition Marketing Manager UK/IRL at Enterprise Holdings, said: “At Enterprise we strongly believe everyone should have the ability to reach their full potential, irrespective of where they begin.

“We are delighted to partner with TG Consulting on their RE:Action 24/7 Summit to help undergraduates to do exactly that.

“After supporting a similar project with TG Consulting earlier this year, we quickly identified the value this programme brings to students and can’t wait to get started.”
